Who am I?

I am an editorial professional and former teacher with over 10 years of combined experience in the academic world. I have spent much of my working life analysing, marking and editing texts, and I take pride in helping people to make their written words as effective as possible.


I have experience in editing a range of academic texts, and I have worked with academics across the world on research papers and journal articles for publication. I am familiar with a number of referencing styles, and I can also work with specific departmental style guides, if required.


My academic background is in Classics, and working within a rigorous academic field for a number of years has allowed me to develop a love of language and its mechanics, as well as a keen eye for detail and accuracy. I also have hands-on experience of teaching students for whom English is a second language, and I very much enjoy proofreading and editing documents from non-native speakers.


I have formalised my editing experience by completing accredited and assessed training courses in proofreading (with distinction) and copyediting (with merit) with the Publishing Training Centre, London. I am also an intermediate member of the Chartered Institute of Editing and Proofreading (CIEP), and I abide by their Code of Practice for editorial excellence.

Academic specialism

My subject specialism is Classics, and I hold a BA in Latin with Greek and an MA in Classics (with distinction) from University College London. I also have a Postgraduate Certificate in Education from King’s College London, and I previously taught Classics at a leading school in London.


I have a keen interest in Classical epigraphy, and I have been a member of the epigraphic team at the Ancient Graffiti Project (AGP) for the past three years. AGP is an international research project that is producing updated editions of graffiti discovered at Pompeii and Herculaneum over the last two hundred years, and then creating a user-friendly online database.
